In my book - Your Own Kind of Girl - I write about the stories we tell ourselves, and what happens when we believe them.
One of the stories I like to remind myself of (all the time) is that in the middle of all the tough stuff, there are still so many truly wonderful, pleasurable, joyful, often quite simple things to feel and try and experience and learn. Even in the grief and the sadness, true and good and fun feelings want to be felt.

When my Dutch treat of a mother Marianne fell in love with my Dad and moved from Amsterdam to Australia (via Nauru island, where Dad was working at the time, and teaching himself to play guitar), one of the few things she brought with her was this here Dutch Apple Tart recipe.
It is pretty much The Best Thing Ever Invented. I must've eaten it about 1,000 times in my life and the thought of it still makes my mouth water! Our neighbours and relatives all feel the same way.

Since 2001 I've had the honour of teaching rooms full of people who don't feel confident singing, that they can, in fact, sing, and enjoy it. My 'If you can SPEAK, You Can Sing' theories have been tried and tested since 2001, when I undertook my first round of 'Community Singing Leadership Training" with legendary folk-singer Fay White, funded by Vic Health. Since then, I estimate I've had the honour of leading over 200,000 people in live singing adventures at shows and events, and I gotta say, it's one of my favourite things IN THE WORLD to do.
At them moment, due to COVID-19, we can't run live events, but soon, I'll have some exciting new 'Adventures in Song' to announce, which I think you might like.
